Interest in QGIS continues to grow across Maine as more organizations explore it as a powerful, free and open-source alternative for desktop GIS. Our recent Lunch & Learn sessions have been well attended, and many users are now incorporating QGIS into their everyday GIS workflows.

As a community-driven platform, QGIS thrives when users share knowledge, workflows, tips, and challenges. The Maine GIS User Group would like to build a dedicated QGIS Special Interest Group (SIG) to support collaboration, skill development, and problem-solving among users across the state.

We’re hosting an initial lunchtime meeting for anyone who:

  • Currently uses QGIS
  • Is considering adopting QGIS
  • Simply wants to learn more

The purpose of this meeting is to shape the direction of the SIG together. What would be most valuable?

  • More Lunch & Learns?
  • Hands-on workshops?
  • “Ask the Experts” sessions?
  • Show-and-tell project demos?

Mike White of Dirigo Spatial Systems will coordinate the meeting. Mike has presented on QGIS in two MEGUG Lunch & Learns, which can be seen on YouTube:

Using QGIS in Municipal Applications

Join us on Zoom and bring your ideas. Let’s build a QGIS community that works for Maine.
